Comprised of early childhood professionals from across community sectors, United Way’s Success By 6 Coalition promotes kindergarten readiness by expanding access to high-quality childcare and supporting the professional development of early childhood educators through investments and programs. 

Credential Assistance Program

Credential Assistance Program awards incentives to childcare professionals completing their credentials in early childhood education. This funding also provides incentive payments to the students’ childcare program employers who support their efforts to reach their educational goals.

Professional Development Funds

Professional Development Funds support enrichment opportunities for early childhood education professionals. The funds cover registration fees for conferences, workshops, classes, etc. that will help educators do their jobs and foster the healthy development of young children.

Childcare Provider Professional Development Workshops

Childcare Provider Professional Development Workshops offer free opportunities to learn, share, and network so that providers can adopt research and learn best practices, increase credentials, and build relationships with other providers.

On My Way Pre-K County Match

Indiana’s state-funded program, On My Way Pre-K, provides free, high-quality preschool for 4-year-olds from low-income families in Indiana, allowing them to attend qualified programs the year before kindergarten. United Way of the Wabash Valley covers the required monetary match for OMWPK grants in its five-county service area.

Quality Childcare Initiative and On the Path to PTQ Investments

Quality Childcare Initiative and On the Path to PTQ Investments are competitive grant opportunities to help childcare programs attain a Paths to Quality Level 3 and 4 high-quality rating or expand the number of existing high-quality spots at their facilities.

Kindergarten Readiness Assessment

Kindergarten Readiness Assessment measures a broad set of skills to determine how well our young students are prepared for school. Collecting this data each year will help us evaluate the effectiveness of our community programs and identify areas for improvement.
