At United Way, we want all kids to soar. So we work with the people who care for them — from families and neighbors, to schools and community agencies — to connect young people with the support they need.
We invest in high-quality early learning programs that lay a strong foundation for lifetime success, empowering our children to become thriving adults who make meaningful contributions to our community.

The Challenge
From birth through their teen years, children benefit when they participate in quality programs led by people who care. Whether high-quality childcare and early literacy development, out-of-school and summer enrichment experiences, or college and career-readiness programs, youth opportunities enable children to reach their full potential, building strong foundations for healthy and resilient lives.
However, many children in the Wabash Valley face barriers that prevent them from benefitting from these opportunities for learning and growth. High costs place quality childcare out of reach for some families. A lack of transportation means that some kids cannot participate in after-school programs. And some schools find it difficult in the current funding climate to offer adequate programs to help high-schoolers be ready for life after graduation.
United Way of the Wabash Valley works with schools, providers, and community organizations to remove barriers and help connect young people to the support they need to be their best selves.
